Playing OUTSIDE!!

Well, playing outside in a minute, first a few funny pictures from playing inside.
Xander and Ari have been playing with their toy people a lot lately, no matter what they are one of them is Luke and one is Laya. The recently redescovered these lightning McQueen slippers, which they use as cars for people to ride in.

These two are just funny. Who knows what the face was about.

Kole playing the piano.

Ok, the outside play. It was actually warmish yesterday (45, not exactly warm, but warmer than it has been for a long time) and it's supposed to snow today, so we decided to take advantage of the weather and go play for a while.
This really was Nikolas' first time playing outside as a big kid, last summer he was always carried, and he hasn't gone out to play in the snow since it's been so cold. He had a great time running around and exploring everything.

He pushed Xander in the car for a while.

We found signs of spring! The girls were very excited.
Isabella was trying to round up "Sheep". She had already tried on the big dogs, but they were too fast for her. She caught a cat once, but it easily wiggled out of the rope. Finally she caught Joey. He does not enjoy the game, but she did.

Xander needed to climb a tree.

Koley learned that he could get into the car, he had a blast.

He found a mud puddle to splash in.
Eventually Isabella gave up on roping "sheep" and decided to rope horses instead. This is her horse here, much more willing to be caught.

It was a little chilly out there, but it was well worth it.

Valentine's Day

Well, Valentine's day happened. I'm never really sure what to do with Vday, cause I don't want it to be another holiday where kids expect to get gifts. However, this year I really wanted to make these crowns, so I made them for Vday. Isabella told the other kids that Valentines gifts had to be hand made, so I decided to encourage that and hopefully remember it next year and just make that the standard.

The crowns were sewn with felt, and turned out super cute :)
I also ended up making super hero masks, cause, you know...

Ari's look says, "yes yes, take your picture so I can get back to my movie, and would some one please clean breakfast off my face?"

The big girls made gifts for everyone. This is the poem Isabella wrote for Papa.

Sophia made him a certificate for a night out together.
Sophia made Xander a scroll, he loves scrolls.

Sophia and Isabella both spent an afternoon in their room sewing something for me. I didn't know what they were doing, I just had to keep reloading thier needles with ribbons.
Sophia made this pillow.
and Isabella made this heart pin cushion. It says "I love you"

a horse for Isabella from Sophia
Isabella made Sophia a wand.
Isabella clothed this boy doll in a loin cloth so he could be Tarzan, complete with a vine to swing on.

Ari's flowers from Sophia.

It was a very crafty day and everybody was truly enjoying the handmade love from eachother. You never know if a 3 year old is going to show true thankfulness for a paper flower, or a 6 year old for a pipe cleaner creation, but they really got into it and had a great time. Here's to remembering this rule next year :)

I had to dig into some old pictures in search of one specific one, and I found so many that I cute ones that I just decided to do a whole blog about it. It's fun looking back 4 or 5 years and seeing the kids at completely different times.
