I've got you now

People have asked me before why I don't go do something for a whole day, or get a way for a weekend and leave the kids at home with Faron.
This is why...

I have said, "I'd come home and they'd have him tied up on the couch and they'd be dancing around him"
Well, this time I wasn't even gone, just in another room, but here he is tied up on the couch. And he slept through it all.

Toenails

When we started school for the year, we also started a new "allowance" type program. We've wanted to do allowance for a while, but I don't really want to always have the kids buying candy and toys, so I hadn't quite figured it out yet. Finally I decided on making our own money and a list of what privileges and activities they kids can buy with their money.
All that to say, the first thing the girls bought was getting to paint their own toenails. Normally I paint them for them, after they ask me 100 times and I keep putting it off. So on this day they got to go outside and paint their own, and it was quite an occasion.

12 on 12

It's 12 on 12 time again. 12 pictures of our life on the 12th.

Yesterday was a very rainy day. Now this drippy picture with the rain falling in the back my look nice and peacful, but it was not so peaceful when I was driving 45 minutes to get to my doctor appointment with very little visibility! Or when I was loading my groceries in the car...but I do love rain anyway.

Charlotte's Web is the read aloud book we are doing for school right now. I confess when we started I didn't think there was going to be any big "learning" going on from this book. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. Reading the book every day, and then answering the questions in our curriculum (Son light, in case you're wondering) the girls have learned quite a few things. A lot of vocabulary and lots more. Isabella pointed out an onomatopoeia in a movie yesterday thanks to this study :)
Isabella, reading her daily library book. Sophia read her's to Faron while I was at the doc, so I didn't get the picture of that one. However, she finished her "learning to read" book last week, so now she is on to library books and is very happy about it.

Alexander got a package from Grandma in the mail yesterday. He had gone with Faron to get the mail and came in dancing all over the place with his box. Even better, inside the box he found 2 pairs of shoes, and gum. What can be better?
Alexander posing for a picture. I was going for a picture of his face, but he still wanted t o show me his shoes!

Yesterday I finally finished canning my apple butter.

This is what the glass doors in my kitchen looked like. Between the rain outside and the boiling water inside, it was a little humid in the kitchen.
Isabella feeling the rain. It rained all day.
Xander on the swing, on the covered deck.
After dinner there was a tornado warning, so we headed to the basement. Faron took the oppertunity to give the kids a little work out.
Then they watched a movie. Look at Ari watching the movie like a big girl.
They were watching Signing Time which I love. It is a series of dvd's made for 1-8 year old that teaches them Sign Language. I am actually using these videos to teach a signing class at our homeschool coop this year. All my kids love them and have learned a ton of signs, Ari even learns signs from watching the videos, see her signing?

And there you have it, that was our day.

New baby

Auntie Tenna (and the gang) came down last week for a day of playing and meeting the new baby. My blasted car needs transmission work, cause you know, I need one more thing going on, so we haven't been able to travel up to see the new baby yet.
So, on the day he turned 2 weeks they came down and I got to do a photo shoot with him. These are a few of my favorites from that day.

and a group shot of all the Hopper side cousins. 7 soon to be 8, these pictures don't stay current for very long so we have to get them while we can.
