Isabella's Birthday party that wasn't

Isabella's birthday party was supposed to be Saturday, but the "blizzard like conditions" were also supposed to be Saturday, so we ended up canceling the party. Because of this tragic disappointment, we tried to have a really fun day all by ourselves. So, our fun day started out with breakfast, including hot chocolate out of a pretty tea pot (which makes it super special).Then we had a new puzzle to put together.

Next, a new movie. The Parent Trap. It was a BIG hit with the girls, and even had enough action via practical jokes to keep Xander entertained.

now to eat the brownies!The part of the party that Alexander and Sophia were most excited about was that this year we decided to do a gift exchange. Instead of having everybody bring Isabella presents, all the kids were supposed to bring presents to exchange, so that everyone got gifts. The plan was to play musical chairs and ever time someone got "out" they got to go pick thier present. So, we decided to go ahead and do our gift exchange...

Xander wanted to forgo the game and just open the presents, but I convinced him that he had to play the game to get his gift, so he finally got to open his, and it was worth the wait. A nerf gun.

Then we ended out the night by finishing reading Swiss Family Robinson and then watching the movie. We all (well, the kids and Faron) camped out in the living room and fell asleep to the movie.


We had a very fun day and party, sorry all the guests had to miss it!

Father Daughter Dance

Last weekend we had the annual Father Daughter Dance at church.  The girls look forward to it all year.  Here they are with their hair in rollers.  Grammy rolled it up and they slept on it, then took it out that afternoon.

We also had formal pictures of each girl and "couple".

Here's Phia, her new hair cut was really cute all curled up.

Then they got to the dancing and dancing and dancing.




They had a great time, and will be waiting for next year :)

Buckner Birthday Boy Weekend

Ok, I've been terrible about updating my blog lately, and while it would be easy to blame the baby, it's more of a computer issue, but I think it may be solved now...so, for an update.

We visited the Buckner house last weekend for a dual party, Kaleb and Isaiah.  We took a trip to the Omaha Zoo, which was very fun, but I didn't bring in my camera, so you'll have to just imagine what 8 kids and 6 adults looks like at the zoo :)

While at the Buckner house, Isabella and Sophia decided that Grammy and Pop should learn how to dance. So they taught them.  Each child took a grandparent and taught them their steps and then they had to perform.

Isabella was teaching Pop some moves from her "Bella Dancerella Pop Star" video.  So here he's learning to "butterfly"Eventually I was able to convince the girls that they could dance, and let Grammy and Pop be the audience.  They weren't fond of the idea, but once they discovered their "students" were sitting down, the took the opportunity to perform.

I like this picture (below) because it was the last picture I took before Sophia's hair cut began, so I think it is fitting that it displays her hair so nicely.

Sophia has been asking to get her hair cut for a while, so while we had Auntie Angie's services handy we went for it.  I knew Angie wasn't too thrilled about Phia getting short hair, so I didn't have to worry about it coming out shorter than I wanted.

This hair brushing chain was funny.

The result.  Sophia does like it, I'm not sure why she's making that face, except that we were standing there waiting on her reaction, so maybe it's more of a "don't pressure me" face.  She likes her new short hair and it is super cute.

Kaleb turned 1!  He's a dancing fool, so I was taking a picture of him rocking out.  Dancing is hard to catch in a still shot though, so at least it's a pic of him looking cute.

The big boys spent lots of time playing computer games together.  10 years from now they may be doing the same thing, but probably not on pbskids.org :)
