Isabella's Birthday party that wasn't

Isabella's birthday party was supposed to be Saturday, but the "blizzard like conditions" were also supposed to be Saturday, so we ended up canceling the party. Because of this tragic disappointment, we tried to have a really fun day all by ourselves. So, our fun day started out with breakfast, including hot chocolate out of a pretty tea pot (which makes it super special). Then we had a new puzzle to put together.

triumph!
Next, the kids got to help me make brownies...
And Pizza.
meanwhile, the weather was changing from rain to freezing rain.
back to the pizza making

Ari even made her own pizza
and it was yummy

Next, a new movie. The Parent Trap. It was a BIG hit with the girls, and even had enough action via practical jokes to keep Xander entertained.
rain started freezing on the windows.
Ice on our poor daffodils :(

now to eat the brownies! The part of the party that Alexander and Sophia were most excited about was that this year we decided to do a gift exchange. Instead of having everybody bring Isabella presents, all the kids were supposed to bring presents to exchange, so that everyone got gifts. The plan was to play musical chairs and ever time someone got "out" they got to go pick thier present. So, we decided to go ahead and do our gift exchange...

Ari got to pick first, not fully understanding the concept of musical chairs.
Ari's cute purse
round and round we go
Xander wanted to forgo the game and just open the presents, but I convinced him that he had to play the game to get his gift, so he finally got to open his, and it was worth the wait. A nerf gun.

bubble fun. The girls both got packages of bubbles and blowers. The pipes, kazoos and a various blowers.

target practice, I think he has a slight advantage.
For a special craft time...tissue paper flowers
and finally some weather worthy of the hoopla

off for a relaxing bubble bath, including the new bubble toys.

Then we ended out the night by finishing reading Swiss Family Robinson and then watching the movie. We all (well, the kids and Faron) camped out in the living room and fell asleep to the movie.

We had a very fun day and party, sorry all the guests had to miss it!

What a fabulous day, so glad you made it great even though the party was cancelled. She may remember this more that she would have the party! The year her spring birthday was snowed out. She sure was excited about the whole day when I called her that evening. So, way to go creative Mom!

Won't you still have a rescheduled party? Looks like a fun day...you have enough people in your family to have a party. Ari's hair is so long!
Happy Birthday Isabella! 7 is so old!
